My brother has diabetes type 1. As his oldest sister I know the impact of living with this disease. I think international research is extremely important to improve life for diabetics. I don’t see my brother as a patient and he himself doesn’t want be treated as one, but his mental and physical health depend on insuline and glucose. I used to help him with finger-pricks and injecting insulin. Nowadays I still feel responsible, even at nights. I hope someday to make him a artificial pancreas.
